I therefore suggest that in

future Hong Kong might adopt this

course when printing its Annual Report.

I am informed that the size should be

Royal Octavo, the type small pica for

plain matter and bourgeois for footnotes

and inserted matter plain, tabular

and table. The paper is Printing

Double Royal 46/480s' "A" quality

white shade. The size of the page

should be the same in all reports but

variations in the style of printing

or in the quality of the paper would

not be material. Recent Colonial

Annual Reports forwarded to you from

apart from the saving to public funds

general style adopted, and I shall be

glad to learn whether you agree to this

proposal for the future. it has the

advantage of enabling the report to be

issued to the public more quickly and

also allows the Colonial Government to

publish whatever details and tabular

statements it thinks fit without risk

of excisions, which is sometimes con-

siderable as you will see from a

comparison of the report as printed in

Hong Kong and as published by the

Stationery Office.
